Marvelous Mitzi!

My recipient this year is our Mitzi.  It is amazing how many things she is involved in.  At this point in her life she is extremely involved with her children and their schools and supporting their activities.  She has put many, many hours in volunteering at the elementary school and Junior High.   She is very involved in trying to make the world a better place for her children and the children in her neighborhood and kids’ schools.

Our bishop sent out a letter about this project.  When I read it, I immediately thought it would be a good way to honor Mitzi, by donating some of the funds needed.

"Cary 2nd ward boundaries include several of Raleigh's public housing complexes. One of them, Kentwood, is where Heather Vinson, a convert of 10 months lives with 3 of her children. She has taken to heart the idea of sharing her light, and just last month volunteered to serve as president of her community organization (approximately 90 units). This may open up opportunities for service (eventually she hopes this will include teaching workshops on employment, budgeting, etc.) One near-term opportunity is for their Dec 16 Christmas program, which she is hastily trying to pull together. She could use donations of candy, coloring books, notepads, pencils, pens, etc. and the labor to put them together into gift bags for each of the 50 anticipated children, food / light hors d'oeuvres, and helping hands to assist that evening. This is a wonderful chance for us to help in a new environment where we can change lives."

I contacted this Heather Vinson and offered to donate $50 in Mitzi’s name.  She was thrilled and acted like we were donating $50,000.  She was going to take photos of the event, but was so busy at the event that she forgot to take many pictures.  This is the one that she sent to me... 2  of many happy kids with the project,

We are proud of you Mitzi.  Keep up the good work.
